Re: Prenantal vitamins,lupron and calcium supplementFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 28 Dec 2002 02:14:23 -0600 (CST)
You are right. I'm majoring in dietetics and nutrition. Just finished up my basic classes and starting into the specialized ones so hopefully next semester I'll be able to answer more of the nutrition questions. If your prenatal vitamin has calcium in it, stop taking the other calcium supplement. While some extra vitamins are good, there is a such thing as "too much of a good thing." If your prenatal vitamin doesn't have calcium, continue to take the calcium supplement - you'll most likely need it. Whatever you decide to do, run it by your doctor at your next visit so he or she will know and let you know whether you made the right decision. But as someone on here mentioned a number of times in the archives (I think it was Hope but I'm not sure) the majority of doctors have little education in nutrition so be sure to ask questions if you are unclear of the doctor's reasoning. Good luck!
