Re: Can I please have a DR to answer this... Just found out I am pregnant? Very wierd!!! Also, what is really necessary...From: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 28 Dec 2002 02:01:22 -0600 (CST)
I don't know who would ever write something so mean! Both myself and my boyfriend work but NEITHER of us have insurance offered to us through our employers. Uninsured people have just as much right to experience the joy of children as those with insurance. And just because we're uninsured doesn't mean we recieve medicaid. Qualifications for medicaid are a lot higher than you think. Yes we did apply but we were refused so again don't assume that YOU and "all of the other working people" are paying for my child's birth! Women come to this forum asking for help, not to be yelled at. Take your insults somewhere else! P.S. As for the woman who asked for info on the latest you can get prenatal care, I had my pregnancy confirmed with labwork and an ultrasound because I didn't know how far along I was. Confirmation is needed through bloodwork and if everything is ok and you know about when you concieved, you don't need an actual visit until 12 weeks, unless you had complications in a previous pregnancy. Prenatal vitamins can get pretty expensive through prescriptions, so ones formulated for pregnant woman over-the-counter can be used (just call your doctor and ask how much of each vitamin you need - make sure you ask about folate, the B vitamins, and calcium) Just to let you know, the 12 weeks "first visit" is according to my doctor. She actually considers the first visit to be the bloodwork confirmation and the 12 week visit to be the second.
