I read on this forum that you should never check your own cervix due to the possibility because you could introduce harmful bacteria high in your vagina. For what it's worth though, my cervix was mushier (according to my doc) in my second pg because after a first labor it never closes up the way it was prior to childbirth. Ask your doc to check that your hcg rates are doubling as they should - this should provide reassurance until your 8 week sonogram. I know you know this, but try to remember that many woman miscarry once, and the vast majority go on to have healthy subsequent pregnancies. My midwife once told me "Children are conceived to be born, and they are born to live." Try not to let anxiety get the better of you, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
