HSG reveals bicornate, upside down uterus? Drs. please helpFrom: Aleida (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 13 Dec 2002 20:59:22 -0600 (CST)
I recently had an HSG performed since my OB/GYN suspected a Uterine Anomaly after a trasvaginal US which revealed I had a missed misscarriage. I picked up the HSG films today and was very alarmed by what I saw. As expected, my uterus does appear to be bicornate or septate. However, what alarms me is that it appears to be upside down! In other words, rather than be 'Y'-shaped as is characteristic of a Bicornate or Septate, it is actually almost 'W'-shaped! Or, another way to describe it is that the 2 horns fall bellow the cervix, with the cervix being appearing to be above the Fallopian Tubes (which by the way were clear). What is going on here? Could this be a retroverted or retroflexed uterus? And, how will this affect my ability to carry to term. Since I have previously conceived, I assume this is not a problem. I tried to discuss the results with the radiologist, but she would not comment. My OB/GYN has referred me to an RE, but that appointment is not until Jan. 3rd? Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance for your help. Aleida
