Exercise & pregnancyFrom: Alex (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Dec 2002 18:14:44 -0600 (CST)
I am planning to have a baby in a year and am currently on a rigorous training schedule of cycling 20+ hours a week. What level of exercise can I expect to maintain prior, during and after pregnancy? I am 33 years old, and in excellent fitness. I would like to cycle through my pregnancy as much as possible. My heartrates average 130bpm for a 4 hour ride, peaking at 177bpm. My maximum HR is about 198bpm. I have heard it is safe up to lactic threshold, which for me is around 177. Any information or links you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.
