Dear Anna,

Two points:

1. Triple test does not actually indicate which babies HAVE Down's syndrome; only which babies are more likely to have it. So, you get a probability; say 1:100. Ask your doctor what your probability is. So, assuming yours is 1:100, you have a 99% chance of having a healthy baby. However, given your triple test result, you can opt to have amniosynthesis (that's when a doctor pulls some fluid out of your stomach with a needle) and then know for sure.

So, to summarize - don't worry. Your baby is probably fine. You are in a higher risk group and have medical means for find out for sure if baby has problems.

2. Your vomiting and rash do not sound good to me. I am a biochemist, not a doctor... but if you cannot keep food down in the 2nd trimester and you have a rash, your doctor should know. One thing for sure - your illness does not indicate that the baby is abnormal, only that YOU need to talk to your doctor.

Best wishes to you,
