Re: 34 weeks and a lot of pressureFrom: Liz (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 2 Dec 2002 16:55:37 -0600 (CST)
Hi Teri, I'm 33 weeks, but measuring for 35 due to diabetes. At 32 wweks I had the most aweful back and pelvic pain. At around 30 weeks I had to go in to see the OB due to cervical pain. I felt like I was dilating. It was actually her foot pushing on my cervix which was closed, long, etc. Last week I was sure what I was having was pre-term labor. A scheduled ultra sound showed her head down and "low" but not engaged. After 4-5 days of not being able to walk far and worrying that I would be in pain until delivery it just stopped. She shifted and is still head down but a bit higher and off to the side. If you're really concerned, call your OB and see if you can get squeezed in. Knowing my cervix was closed and that I was just a first time mom who doesn't know any better made me feel (and sleep) much, much better. I always thought pregnant women who were about to deliver were miserable because they were big. It never occured to me that they were in pain from the baby's position. I also read that you can get on your hands and knees and kinda swing your belly a little. This might get your little one to shift postitions. It's recommended if the baby is pressing on a nerve causing leg or back pain. Good Luck!
