Miscarriage after normal pregnancy

Hello...2 months ago my period was late (it was the first month my husband and I were actively trying to get pregnant). I had a questionably positive home pregnancy test (the line was very faint). My doctor ordered an HCG test, which was only 10. 3 days later I had a very light period (my periods are always very consistent, and this was unusual). I personally believe it's possible that I conceived that month, but obviously it didn't work out. However, I'm currently miscarrying an approximately 5 week pregnancy. 2 days after my positive home pregnancy test, I began having some mild cramping and spotting. My doctor ordered some labs, and my HCG was 242, progesterone 7.9. They weren't too optimistic, neither was I, and now, 4 days later, I am losing the pregnancy and experiencing heavy cramping and substantial bleeding with tissue present. My biggest concern is that I have a 4 year old - and my pregnancy with him was perfectly normal - textbook so to speak. I had no problems early on and no labs, so I have no idea what my progesterone trend was. I am very concerned about the past few months and my very unsuccessful pregnancies. Is this a fluke? This current miscarriage is very disappointing since I fully expected to have a problem-free pregnancy. Is low progesterone a chronic problem, or can it vary from pregnancy to pregnancy? I just don't understand. Any advice or reassurance would be much appreciated. Thanks, Sarah
