Depo Provera/Gastric By-Pass/Pregnant?From: Pooh (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Nov 2002 17:31:42 -0600 (CST)
Hi.. I have been on Depo Provera since April of this year, my last shot being September 18, 2002. Due to some of the more "severe" side effects that I have experienced since on Depo my doctor and myself have decided to discontinue the use of it. However, this last two weeks, I have had morning nausea, usually going away after 1 p.m. or so, frequent urination, fatigue, some breast tenderness, and I've been a HUGE ball of emotions, all of which are very out of character for me and my body. Also, I have done alot of research and found that it is possible to become pregnant almost immediately once the shot has "worn off" which, can be almost immediately in some people also. I have taken 4 HPT (home pregnancy tests) all of which have been negative. I have an appointment to see my physician on Tuesday of this week, to discuss this with him and I'm sure to have another pregnancy test done, hopefully a blood one instead. I'm concerned that the HPT's will continue to test out negative for me due to the large volume of water that I drink each day because of my surgery as well as any other beverage (soda, juice) that I may intake. I know that it is possible that if your urine is too diluted that you can not test out in the HPT's.. So overall I'm asking these questions: 1. Is it possible that I could be pregnant, even though "technically" my shot should be in my system for another few weeks?? 2. Is it possible due to the weight flucutaions that the shot is not effective like it should be? 3. Is there anything else I should be doing to investigate this matter?
-- Thank you for any help or assistance that you might be able to give me.
