groin and back painFrom: chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Nov 2002 15:02:26 -0600 (CST)
I'm a 38 years old and pregnant for the first the time (24 weeks). For the past 4-5 weeks, I've been experiencing incredible pelvic/groin and sciatic pain in my lower back. The groin pain is precisely where the legs meet the inner pelvic area. Any movement or flexing of my buttocks causes an incredible pain to travel through my groin area. On top of that, I have a mid to high grade sciatic pain that flairs up whenever I sit, lie or walk for any length of time. Between the two, I feel like I'm going out of my mind with pain. Everyone I try to tell this to has a common response, "you're pregnant, what do you expect?". What I didn't expect is to feel like a cripple, to be in agonizing pain and to barely be mobile. I've tried acupuncture and chiropractory to no relief. I've told my doctor about it but there he doesn't seem to hear the urgency of what I am saying. He finally referred me to a maternal fetal specialist. The closest appointment they had is 2 weeks away. I don't know what to do or say anymore. Is there any help for this pain and what exactly is this groin pain all about? I can understand the sciatica but noone I know has ever experienced the groin pain that I'm talking about. Sincerely, Chris
