recurrent lossesFrom: Nancy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Nov 2002 00:15:56 -0500
I delivered my first child after a completely normal pregnancy. The second time I got pregnant was 4 yrs later and at 19 wks I had a sonogram which revealed my baby had died and was the size of 15 wks. One year later I lost another the same way at 13 wks. After this 2nd loss, I was sent to specialists at a Women's Hospital who ordered several tests. Everything came back negative. The only suggestion that I was given was to take progesterone during my next pregnancy because my uterine lining was not as thick as they would like to have seen but stressed that this may or may not have been a reason for my losses. 4 yrs later I finally got pregnant again, went to a new dr this time around 5 wks from LMP. He prescribed Prometrium immediately as a precaution. I was referred back to the specialists for a consult of whether or not I needed to take aspirin, they ordered a battery of blood work (was told that it was very indepth testing) and all came back negative so they did not prescribe the aspirin or anything else. I had an US at 6 wks was fine. 4 wks later I began to spot very light brown and continued having mild discomfort - he then ordered me another US to check on the baby and this revealed that my baby had died and was only 7 wks size. Is there something that we are missing here?? I want another child so badly but I need to get some answers as I do not want to go through this again. It seems as if each time the baby does not get it's nourishment and then dies. I have never had bleeding or anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
