nurse unprofessionalism w/PG tests and tcc anxiety, thanks in advance for any response. :)From: JMQ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 22 Nov 2002 20:54:53 -0600 (CST)
I went to the doctor today because i've had a bad cold and haven't taken anything because I've been concerned about pregnancy. In any event, while i was there, the doctor told me it was just alergies. I told him i'd like to have a blood test to see if I was in fact preggo (big mistake!). He said i'd much rather do a stick test, anyway, after convincing him that I needed a blood test and not the alternate (thinking it was still too early to tell) he reluctanctly agreed. So I get my blood drawn and the nurse tells me that I won't find out until Wednesday. So I ask if she'd give me the stick test after all. She agreed and sends me to the waiting room to wait...and wait...and wait. Finally in front of all the other waiting patients she comes out of the door and says, "It's negitive." I look around and they all look at me and she repeats herself! I was hot and fighting back tears. I was humilated. Now my questions (and I thank you for listening) is it really 5 days before a blood test comes back?? And should I just accept the negitive result despite what i am feeling physically? And finally due to the extremely lack of professionalism how do I know they are even going to send my blood to the lab?? Will that most likely come out negitive?? How does one stop worring about getting pregnant? Thanks, JMQ TCC 1year 6 months
