Chronic Insomnia, Pregnancy and Ambien?

I have had chronic insomnia and depression for 10 years. I a 26 weeks pregnant and once again have had a terrible time trying to sleep. Often I am awake all night almost having panic attacks because I can't sleep. (It is not because I am uncomfortable) In the past I have taken Ambien when it has been this serious. Sometimes for months at a time. Finally my doctors have told me I can now take Ambien again. I have taken it for the past 5 nights and feel horribly guilty about it. But without some help I start to go crazy without sleep. Is it ok to take ambien throught the third trimester? Has anyone taken it regularly? Any problems with the baby? I am so FRUSTRATED! Please help.
