Dear Lydia,

I am not a doctor, so this is purely an opinion that you are encouraged to take with a grain of salt.

Babies are tough little survivors, so working hard while pregnant (as long as no heavy lifting is involved is OK. You need to make sure you eat sensibly - if things get too crazy, order take-out salads from Wendy's, but make sure your diet is great. Our ancestors had to put up with incredible amount of stress during pregnancy, and we're all here and able to function in society.

Once the baby is born, though, you cannot work for 60-75 hours a week... or rather you can, but then you REALLY TRULY need to have excellent day care arragement that you trust. Not trivial. So, instead of worrying too much about harming the unborn, start saving like crazy so you can quit this job and look for another one after the maternity leave.

If quitting and being on welfare for 6-8 months (CS market is tough right now, it may take this long to land something) is not an option, spend every free minute you have looking for daycare solutions.

Just my cynical $0.02,
