Re: blood pressure questionFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Oct 2002 13:46:56 -0600 (CST)
Hi VIctoria, I'm not a doctor, just someone who has been followed for borderline high BP. I would suggest that, with your symptoms (seeing stars, headache, which *can* be signs of pre-eclampsia) you call your doctor and, at the very least, go in and have them check for protein in your urine. If it is there, you really need to be closely monitored, and the sooner the better. I'm not trying to alarm you - these symptoms do not necessarily mean anything is wrong. In fact, I have had BP in the borderline-high range (130s/90s), seen spots off an on, and had headaches -- but never had protein in my urine, swelling, or other signs of pre-eclampsia. Nonetheless, my doctor has monitored me very closely because of the high readings. It may be nothing; it may not be -- but please do call your obstetrician. If you are developing pre-eclampsia, there are medications they can give you to help control it -- but the sooner you start, the better, for both you and the baby. Good luck.
