Pill induced birth?

With my last child my labor had to be induced because water had broke and labor did not begin. I was give a choice between the spinal and a pill I believe was an allergy pill of some type to induce labor. I was given half of the pill on the advice of the attending P.A. who said it seemed to be easier on women. I have not been able to find any information on side effects or even this being used as an inducement method. Have you heard of this and do you know where I could go to get information on side effects? My son is three now and still does not speak he is very active and has great dexterity but it doesn't even seem like he wants to try to speak. He does say a few words like: let go, bye, and woah. I know he hears things because if I call from outside or in another room he comes. I know I need to get it checked out, but I want to start gathering information first because I want to be educated before I start taking any advice again.

Thank you
