Lapidus M.D.: "Re: Empty Sac" Had u/s at 6.5 weeks.. there was a sac but no yolk or any embryo.. empty. Went in for another u/s a week later, same thing. Set up D & C for two days later. My OB wanted to check my HCG level before proceeding with D&C. HCG level was quite elevated 39,000. Will repeat HCG in 48 hours. What are the chances that an embryo will show up? Can HCG level be so high if sac is empty?? Pregnancy symptoms are still there. Any advice or related experiences would be quite helpful.
