36 w 2 d - early contractionsFrom: Patricia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Oct 2002 11:56:13 -0600 (CST)
Hello. I was admitted to the labor & delivery dept. of the hospital on Sunday evening because my contractions were 2 minutes apart and very strong. This is my second pregnancy, first was induction that ended up being a c-section due to size (9 lb. 14 oz.). At my 36 week ultrasound the baby's head and abdomen measured 40 weeks 5 days and his weight was 8 lb. 1 oz. - he is estimated to be 11 lbs. In the hospital, the doctor ordered an IV drip and terbutaline (sp?). The contractions slowed quickly but came back on Monday. They continued to monitor me but the contractions were sporadic and there was no change in my cervix - still long and tight. Will my cervix soften even if I don't dilate? I never dilated more than fingertip with my daughter. Also, my due date is 11/22 but am scheduled for a c-section on 11/14. Based on your experience, will I go early or do you think the baby will stay put until the 14th?
