Re: How painful is surgical abortion?From: lynn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 23 Oct 2002 16:08:07 -0400
Jina, I have had several miscarriages, where I had to have D&Cs, which is the same procedure you'd have to remove your baby. Opposite to what Jess below said, I had absolutely no pain. My Dr. put me to sleep in the hospital and I woke up surprisingly feeling fine, with only very light cramping (less than period cramps). This was true for every one of my D&Cs, and there were 5 of them. So, just make sure your knocked out when it's done, and make sure you have a good doctor you trust. My Dr. was very thorough, and I hardly had any bleeding afterwards. Just wanted to express my personal experiences. I hope it makes you feel a little better. Good luck.
