31 weeks - 80% effacedFrom: Tara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 20 Oct 2002 15:26:21 -0500 (CDT)
I have been put on bedrest because at my last doctor's visit (29 weeks) I was told I was 80% effaced with an "extrememly" soft cervix. My 24 week ultrasound showed my cervix to be 3.5 cm in length. Doc. said that the baby's head is putting pressure on the cervix and thinning it out and I need to relieve that pressure. My question is, is there any way for me to determine, short of going to the doctor every day, whether or not my cervix is still holding in there and there is still no dialation? Should I ask by OB/GYN about steroid shots for the baby's lungs just in case I do go into preterm delivery?
