5 weeks 1 day no sac on u/s?From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 17 Oct 2002 17:26:41 -0500 (CDT)
I have had spotting and some mild cramping for the past week, and discovered I was pregnant after a test last weekend. My LMP was September 10, and my cycle is normally 27-28 days long (occasionally 26 or 29), so I calculate that as of today, I am 5 weeks 2 days from LMP. I finally got in to see a doctor for my symptoms yesterday, and he did an ultrasound and ordered HCG tests. The results are not in yet for the HCG, but he was unable to find any evidence of pregnancy in either my uterus or fallopian tubes from a transvaginal ultrasound. Does this usually mean either an ectopic or failed pregnancy -- or is it too early to tell at this stage? I understand that LMP is not an exact calculation of gestational age, but if cycles are regular and not especially long, wouldn't a doctor see a sac at this stage?
