Herpes simplex virus affect become dormant in the root of nerves and sometimes flaring up of infection causes pain which runs through the course of the nerve.nerves usually originate from the spinal cord and pass in a belt like manner to supply the skin all through chest and abdomen.so usually pain starts in the back and runs towards the front in a specific areas.It is realy very painful and need strong anlagesic and usually takes few days and is selflimited
