No gestational sac with rising bHCGFrom: Lynn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 14 Oct 2002 12:08:39 -0500 (CDT)
I am very confused about what is going on with my pregnancy. I had an ob consult yesterday but was not given a scenario that would explain the complications. I know "wait and see" is the the best course to take now, but I am the kind of person that needs to be informed. Following is the info to date: AMA - 39 yrs; LMP - August 12 (definite); Positive urine test - Sept 21; Bleeding with no pain - Sept 27 to 30; Clotting and spotting - Oct 1 - 3; TVU - Oct 1 with no visible sac; bHCG - Oct 2 was 1735; bHCG - Oct 8 was 2198; TVU - Oct 11 with no visible sac, uterus 97-48-40, Cervix non tender, adnexa has 4-10 cyst, endo is 5, No free fluid. I am not experiencing any pain, cramping or nausea. I have poor appetite and frequent urination. The Ob I saw yesterday said that I am still pregnant and ordered bHCG for Oct 15 to 16 and another ultrasound on Oct 21. My GP and I had agreed after the first u/s that I probably had lost the pregnancy. Is it possible I am still pregnant and what could be the reason for the absence of a gestational sac but rising bHCG?
