37w pregnant, severe pain radiating from back to frontFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 14 Oct 2002 09:56:11 -0500 (CDT)
I've been having a severe pain right below my shoulder blade on my right side, radiating around to my front with a stabbing pain below my breast (around the ninth or tenth rib.) It's been going on for nearly 3 weeks - it comes and goes but has been with me constantly for the past 4 days. The pain is intense, I actually scream out at times, and have cried. I went to the Hospital last Monday night to rule out Gall Bladder. They did an ultrasound and said my gall bladder looked fine but that there was fluid on the kidney which could be hydronephrosis due to the baby blocking off the urethra from the bladder to the kidney. I did have Pylonephritis with a previous pregnancy but my white blood count is fine. I did have bacteria in my urine which they are treating with antibiotics. My doctor acted like the pain is just because the baby is so high up and it's no big deal and I basically have to live with it. This pain is excrutiating. She gave me Vicodin but I don't really want to take it too much so have just been struggling with the pain. Could this pain be from the fluid on my kidney? Is there something else I should be asking her to pursue? HELP!
