Hi Shelli, I had a transvaginal ultrasound at 5 weeks also. Exactly like you, they saw the sac which measured 5 weeks but nothing else. I did a lot of research after that and found that it is normal to only see a sac at 5 weeks. Ultrasounds done so early are basically to rule out ectopic pregnancies, identify multiple sacs, and basically, to make sure a sac is developing. My ob ordered another u/s for 10 days later and I was blessedly relieved when I saw the tiny bean and his/her heart beating away. This early on, everyday is a major milestone in development. What was not there yesterday could very well be there today. Best of luck to you.
