I think that many women become emotionally vulnerable during the first trimester of pregnancy. While we would all like a "perfect" pregnancy (or a perfect life/husband/job/you name it), it does not happen every time. From what I understand, your baby has not been harmed in any way. Think of all the famous people whose mothers were under a lot of stress when pregnant - Beethoven's father was an abusive alcoholic, Clara Shumann's father despised his wife, Rousseau was abandoned by his mother who viewed pregnancy as an inhibition of her social ambitions, etc. Take heart - this too shall pass, and you'll have a beautiful baby in your hands come summer.

P.S. However, if you tend to fight with your mother-in-law a lot, try to see her less her during your pregancy, just in case.
