placental abruptionFrom: Les (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Sep 2002 08:54:41 -0500 (CDT)
When I was pregant I searched the web for any information I could find on placental abruption. I experienced this heartwrenching condition 14 weeks into my pregancy. All the info I found was negative and sad. I was a nervous wreck my entire pregnancy worrying about all terrible chances of losing my baby. I swore if I had a healthy baby I would write back share my experience so other moms could know there is hope and can be a beautiful outcome. Little Luke was born full term via C-section and is a happy, healthy little guy. I had been on complete bedrest for my entire pregnancy visiting my perinatologist weekly. I could not have an amnio or any tests because of my weakened condition and all the bleeding. I bled for over a month. I had terrible cramps. I was a mess. My age didn't help being 40 this year. Luke is my 4th baby and this was my 3rd C-section. To all those moms out there who this a placental abruption is hopeless, have faith. Everything turned out wonderful for me. Absolutely no complications at all. It will happen for you too.
