Questions to ask my Doctor tomorrow - re: Menstral Irregularity before & after D&C -

I am 26 years old and first started menstruating when I was 14. My cycles have never been regular which was frustrating enough! However, earlier this year my husband and I planned our first pregnancy. Luckily, I fell pregnant very quickly but miscarried at 8 - 9 weeks. I then had a D&C and had a first 'real' period 7 weeks later. I was due to have another menses on 16/17 Sept but no signs other than that nagging feeling of menstruation cramps/aches for 3 weeks but no bleeding. My cycles are usually anything between 36 - 42 days. I'm not pregnant as I did a pregnancy test a week ago which was a clear negative. I now have signs of brown discharge and I'm sure bleeding will commence soon enough - or at least I think so!

My question is this: Could I have a hormonal imbalance during the latter part of my cycle i.e. past ovulation? Could this have had an effect on my first prenancy in that I couldn't produce enough progesterone to sustain the pregnancy? I have an appointment with my MD tomorrow and I'd like to ask him specific questions such as possible medication to correct the irregularity or aid conception; tests etc. Please advise - I'd really appreciate your comments.

Thanks in advance.
