Coomb's test questionFrom: Heather (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Sep 2002 06:00:32 -0500 (CDT)
My daughter had a negative Coomb's test at birth, and then a positive a week later upon being admitted to NICU with jaundice (bilirubin at 500, triple phototherapy for two days plus biliblanket for a further three.) My husband is A-neg, I am O-neg. I am antibody-D positive. I have asked my Doctor and she was unable to answer the following question: I wish to have more children. Are they at risk of dying in utero from this? Are they at increased risk in general, or can we just expect (and treat) the jaundice in any further babies? I am concerned that whatever it is that set off my daughter would be increased in any further pregnancies - is that the case? Plain English responses please! :-) Thanks very much,
-- Heather
