emergency contraception doctor pleaseFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSun, 29 Sep 2002 09:52:09 -0500 (CDT)
Hello - my menstrual cycle is usually 28-29 days. This cycle on day 14 I had some spotting and therefore assumed that this is when I was ovulating - also assumed that this was the ovulation day because of my cycle length. Well last night, what would have been day 18 of my cycle I had unprotected intercourse with my fiance. I figure that this would have been a safe time because it was 4 days post-ovulation - this is what I thought until this morning. This morning after straining for a bowel movement, I noticed light pink blood on the tissue - it was definitely from my vagina. Now I am wondering if THIS was the ovulation spotting, or perhaps it is a result of straining or the vigorous sexual activity the night before. I never have a 32 day cycle so I am inclined to think that this was not ovulation spotting that I had this morning. So my question is, with unprotected sex on day 18 of a 28-29 day cycle, with spotting on day 14, and unexpectedly again on day 19, what do you think that chances are of pregnancy, and thus my need for emergency contraception? Thank you very much - I appreciate your help. -anon
