Did they do an ultrasound to look at the surrounding tissue?? I know it is a long time to wait, I don't see why you should have to if you are bleeding so much all the time. You are only going to go out of your mind for the next 10 days!! I started bleeding around my 5th week and it turned out that there was a bloody mass/cyst on the outside of my uterus which was visible on the ultrasound. Everything was fine with the baby and the bleeding eventually stopped. However, it was hell. See if you can get in earlier, I can't imagine they would want you to keep bleeding for 10 days before they see you again.
