You might want to consider seeing a genetic counselor--my doc gave me a reference to one. Amnios are safer than they used to be and many people your age end up getting them. I did not get one for my pregnancies at ages 34 and 37. After consulting with my doctor, I ended up getting the triple screen blood test (which did not raise any red flags) combined with a level 2 ultrasound with a specialist at 18 weeks gestation. This is not as exacting as an amnio but does screen for some stuff without being invasive. I do know a lot of my friends have taken comfort in the peace of mind an amnio brings. Good luck with your decision and pregancy.
