will the spermicide, Nonoxynol-9, cause future baby defects?From: seriously (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 31 Aug 2002 22:11:14 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Doctor: I am anxious to get your help. I know the spermicide, Nonoxynol-9, is inside and outside some condoms. If the condom fails when we are using it, will the spermicide cause future baby defects? How does spermicide, Nonoxynol-9, work? I am told that Nonoxynol-9 reduces active sperms. So, is it possible that a sperm is somehow-hurt by spermicide, Nonoxynol-9, and still afterwards successfully conceive a baby (maybe with defects) with an egg? Your prompt reply will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
