I am 8 weeks pregnant. had an earlier ultrasound that showed a healthy baby and heartbeat, but now I am having some lower back pain . I do not want another ultra sound. Can they detect the heartbeat any other way? depenidng on your size and the position of your uterus the heartbeat can usually be heard by doppler between 8 - 10 weeks. If you are obese or if you uterus is tilted backwards, then it may take another week or 2 to hear teh heartbeat
