Post Partum Period Question

I have given up on figuring this out myself and hope someone can shed some light on what's up.

6/21 - had beautiful baby boy vaginally (don't we all think they're beautiful?) breastfed 3 weeks bled 2 weeks 8/6 - postpartum checkup...all looks good 8/11 - started Ovcon35 birth control pills 8/21 - started first period after giving birth (just realized this is exactly 2 months after having baby)

I am still bleeding and it is getting a bit heavier, but luckily no cramping or real discomfort. I was rather surprised to have a period while on the pill, but figured that it could happen since I hadn't had one since having the baby. I can't believe it is still going on though and am wondering if this is abnormal. On the pill, I usually bleed heavy first day and then light a couple of days. And since tomorrow is my last active pill of this pack, I assume that IF I do stop bleeding in the next day or two that I won't have another period on the inactive pill days. Heck, I'm tempted to just skip the inactive pill days and go right to another pack of pills. Don't want to take any chances of ovulating and getting pregnant again and I'm sure my hubby is getting tired of abstaining. And as I have PCOS, I don't have many periods on my own so having one on active pill days really shocked me!

Anyhow, don't know if anyone can shed light on this or not. If I continue to bleed heavier, I'll call my doc on Monday and see what's next. Thanks for listening!
