Re: 37 Week Induction??

I was induced at 37 weeks for the same 2 reasons you stated: 1. Convenience - my husband travels a lot and I wanted to be sure he'd be around :) Plus, I love my doctor and he worked so hard at getting me pregnant and he has such a wonderful bedside manner (ok, he cried when he had to tell me there was no heartbeat and I lost a baby), that I didn't want to take the chance of him not delivering my baby. For some reason, call me weird, it meant a lot to me. 2. Size - My Dr. was anticipating a potentially large baby, and 3 weeks early, he was 9 lbs...so, he was right! I couldn't have pushed out a 10 pounder I'm sure, I am very small boned. On another note, I've always heard of women "emptying their bowels" when pushing in labor, so knowing that I was to be induced, I prepared for this by making sure there was nothing in there to come out!!! I know most women wouldn't care about this, but I think I would've been mortified even though I know it happens all the time!! So, I was very happy with the induction. THis has been discussed on this forum a lot recently, so you may want to go through the recent archives for other opinions. GOOD LUCK!!
