Re: Fast labor..Running out of timeFrom: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 3 Aug 2002 08:32:55 -0500
I had my 2nd at home because I didn't feel anything except the urge to go to the bathroom until about 51 minutes before he was born, finally felt mild upset stomach cramps about 20 minutes before he was born. The Dr. started #3 by breaking my water at 7:05 am, about 7:30 am I felt the first contraction & she was born at 8:36 am - so it does happen. I just wouldn't let it worry me too much. My Dr. told me to head for the hospital with the first cramp & take a chance on it being false labor, rather than taking a chance on it being real labor & not going in time. The amazing thing to me is that my mother, aunts & grandmother all seemed to have really hard & long labors, but my cousins, sister & I have all had fast ones. Now my daughter has to try to convince the Military Drs. each time that she also goes faster than what they consider normal - usually about 2 hours or less from feeling the first contraction.
