Re: 'The Pill'From: Keisha (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 2 Aug 2002 13:02:44 -0500 (CDT)
The pill does take about a week to become effective. Until then, you are supposed to use alternate forms of protection. Also, if she has stopped taking the pill so that her period will start, it should start in a few days after she stops the pill for the cycle (usually was 3 days for me). I personally despise the pill because it gave me so very many problems. I hope to never have to go back to fake hormones. I thought I would like them, but for me (and many people down the road) they can cause a lot of problems. For me, they gave me yeast infections constantly, which in turn gave me vulvodynia vestibulitis. I also think they may have had something to do with my pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) but I can't be sure. All I know is I never "got normal" after I got off of them. Please tell her this so she knows the risks. For me, however, I'm obviously not on anything because I'm happily pregnant with twins! :) I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow and everything does look really good. Take care. Keisha
