----Yes, nursing mommies do need to eat more. It takes a lot of calories to make all that milk. Plus, as your son goes through growth spurts, he'll eat more and you'll be even more hungry (a big spurt comes around 3 months). I know I've read somewhere that a woman exclusively breastfeeding a child actually has higher caloric and nutritional needs (esp. calcium) than a pregnant woman. So, my advice is enjoy it while you can! I lost all my preg. weight very fast (4 wks) with my daughter, but it took longer with my son so I know variations are pretty normal. Just try to eat really healthy meals and keep easy, nutritious snacks on hand to munch while you're nursing - anything you like really - a muffin, a granola bar, some fruit, or whatever else you want. Also, make sure you're drinking enough, at least an extra glass of fluid per feeding. With me, I just drank a glass of soy milk or water and ate a snack every time I sat down to nurse (of course fettucini is a little hard to manage - too bad :-) ---Christie
