Hx: Went off bcp's last Nov. and was diagnosed as being anovulatory. Two cycles ago I took Clomid 50 mg days 5-9 and ovulated on day 22. During this cycle, I was diagnosed with a 6 cm ovarian cyst on my right ovary and went back n 6 weeks later for another u/s to see if the cyst was functional or not. I didn't take clomid that next cycle and I got a +OPK on day 19 and started period on day 28. Went back to dr this past Monday for 6 wk visit and cyst was still there so I scheduled laparascopy for this Friday. Dr. said he would also do "ovarian drilling" because I have polycystic ovaries. He had never mentioned this to me before and he said I would probably have some fertility trouble and need to take fertility drugs. BTW, my dh and I have not been actively TTC to conceive during this time. I'm just a little confused b/c he has never checked my hormone levels at his office and 3 mos ago my GP checked them and everything was fine. From what I've read, PCOS usually involves elevated hormones and PCOS sufferers are usually overweight and have increased body hair. I'm neither. My question is: Should I be concerned that the dr made this diagnosis and is doing "ovarian drilling" before doing any add'l testing and knows that I have been responding to clomid? If anyone could explain what all this means or has been through all this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for your time.
