Mucus PlugFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 20 Jul 2002 21:13:27 -0500 (CDT)
I am 37 weeks 4 days pregnant with my second child. I have noticed an increase in discharge over the last week but I have not dilated any further than a "finger tip". During my first pregnancy I lost my plug at 9 am, water broke at 9 pm on the same day and went from 1 cm to delivery in 5 hours with no help (ie drugs, walking etc). Can the plug be passed without my knowledge? Is their a "cervical pattern" (is dilation similar in different pregnancy's)? And here is an inquiring mind question. Can a cervix dilate past 10 cm? I was just wondering since it always ends at ten and I know every woman is different and I thought that someone has had to physically go past ten cm. Thank you for the advice and satisfying my curiosity.
