5# 8 oz is the 10th %ile at 36 weeks. US weight estimation is plus or minus 15 %15% of 5.5 pounds is about 15 ounces. So that means that if US says 5.5 pounds, 90% of babies will be between 4.5# and 6.5#. The other 10% will be above or below that.
