insulin resistantFrom: kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Jun 2002 12:16:20 -0500 (CDT)
i am 33yo and 36wks pregnant. i have gestational diabetes that was dx'd at about 6wks (early testing due to ob hx- stillbirth at 29 1/2wks-cause unknown and gd in that pregnancy). i have required insulin throughout this pregnancy and my levels were well under control at a very low dose. recently my levels have begun climbing however to unacceptable levels (130's-170's) fasting and after meals. the insulin dose has been increased 5 times in the last 4 weeks but my levels do not seem to be responding. the baby has been followed very closely with serial u/s's due to his falling beneath the 10th percentile and we are having nst's 2x/wk. i have been strict with my diet all along and am very worried about what problems could arise now due to my levels remaining high. what is usually done in a case like this? could i be looking at early induction? thanks for your response.-kimberly
