Re: Some women more fertile?From: Rachael (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Jun 2002 10:57:00 -0500 (CDT)
After three years of watching and charting my fertility, I know that I only have about 4 hours of fertile mucus every month. My window of opportunity for getting pregnant is VERY small. Other women, on the other hand, have 2 or 3 days of fertile mucus, making their window of opportunity a lot longer! I wouldn't say I'm less fertile, I've had two babies, but I don't just "accidentally" fall pregnant. This "fertile days" concept is discussed in Taking Charge of Your Fertility, a great book about figuring out your body. I highly recommend it if you don't have it already. It's okay for the semen to leak out, there's really nothing you can do to prevent it completely. Laying flat (don't need to keep your legs up) for 15-20 minutes is all you need to do, those sperm are excellent swimmers and in that time frame will make it well past the cervix. Good luck!!!!! :)
