REALLY need adviceFrom: anon. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 28 Jun 2002 20:15:40 -0500 (CDT)
This is going to sound stupid but I am sitting here bawling my eyes out. Im forced to go on a vacation with my in laws next week. we will all be staying in a condo together. Im freaking out because Ive seen my inlaws, time and time again, do things like prepare raw meat (not wash their hands) then go immediatly to the silverware drawer and start rifiling through there for things. Other times, they crack open eggs, get it all over, once again, dont wash up and touch everything, door knobs, clean dishes, cupboards. Im 30 weeks pregnant, trying hard NOT to overreact...but to me this seems extremely dangerous in any situation...Im terrified of cross contamination and my poor unborn child developing toxo (from them touching the meat then everything else in the house that i would need to touch) to salmonella to ecoli. Im in absolute hysterics. I actually witnessed this last night when they were over and my inlaw had prepared hamburger then went right in my silverware drawer without washing up first. As soon as they left, I had to wipe everything down and run the my silverware through the dishwasher. YES, I do suffer from OCD but I really think this is so much more hygeine related then anything else....just common sense things that they dont do. Any advice? Please? How am I supposed to survive the next week? What are the chances of contracting something (toxo, ecoli, salmonella) because they touch everything in sight without washing their hands??
