Hi Sarah, Just a layperson here. I appreciate what you wrote, as I do occasionally think that doctors may not give women enough credit when it comes to knowing their own bodies. That said though, many women do NOT keep track of their periods, especially if they are not trying to get pregnant. I consider myself a responsible woman who cares about her body, yet I couldn't have told you the first date of my last menstrual period prior to the time that I started trying to conceive. That fact, in conjunction with the difference in cycle lengths from woman to woman (as you know, the LMP method is based on a 28 day cycle) and uncertainty as to when ovulation occurred can all affect the dates. I honestly don't think the docs here are trying to 'slam' women by saying their dates may be off. It's just a fact that sometimes, they ARE. : )
