If milk isn't going to be used for 48 hour hours after expressing, it is safest freezing it. It freezes well in the special milk plastic bags. You can dethaw it by running warm water over the outside of the plastic. The freezer is good for just-in-case storage. I would do two sizes-- a 4 ozer if he was hungry and a 2 ozer to tide the little guy over until I got home. You hate to give the baby 4 oz of pumped milk and then have em not be that hungry. If you split the supplies, if they are really hungry, they can have a 4 and 2 oz bottle. Have fun with your new baby!
