sleep, work, and milk supplyFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 24 Jun 2002 12:35:04 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 28 year old first time mom. My baby girl is 6 1/2 weeks old and has been exclusively breastfed on demand. I have been careful not to let more than 3-4 hours pass without feeding her so that I have a well established milk supply. I am wondering - when is it ok to let her sleep longer at night (without waking her to feed) without compromising my milk supply? Also, when I go back to work, there will be a 6 hour time frame that I can't nurse or express work. Will that be detrimental to my milk supply? Thanks for your time! Ann E.
