We've heard of the benefits of cord blood and programs for donating it or even banking it for future needs. If it is so beneficial, then why, in cases of low-risk births, is the cord clamped so quickly?

Why not let it finished pulsing?

I am not suggesting something as extreme as Lotus Birth (where the entire umbilicus/placenta as a unit are let to dry up and fall off on their own), but rahter allowing the baby to receive all of his/her cord blood. If it true that it is rich in clotting factor, wouldn't this mean that the Vitamin K shot would be unnecessary?
