I'm doing research for my sister and found "Amnio incurred problems... but now what...?" on the forum

In short, my sister underwent Amniocentesis. Difference between articles is that the leaking of amniotic fluid won't stop. She's been bed rest for 3 weeks now and fluid at last dr office visit was 450ml. She went from 700ml to 450ml in 3 weeks (I may have the first number wrong). I called her today and she said she had filled up a couple of pads just in one day. She fears that she's down to 200ml. She's at the stage were the lungs are developing (4th - 5th month).

She's worried about the baby not developing properly and whether she should carry to term. She doesn't want her son to be on an lung machine for the rest of his life.

She's going to her doctor on Friday.

I saw that they can do an amnioinfusion. Would this help? She's already asked her doctor about going in and gluing up the hole. She knows were they stuck the needle in. She was told that they wouldn't be able to find it. Is there anything else she can do?

Has anyone out there been in the same situation were the fluid won't stop leaking? If so, what happened with the baby?

We'd really appreciate any help anyone out there can offer.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

As a side note, her tests from the amnio came back and everything was fine. It would be a shame for her to lose the baby because of the amnio. But at the same time, it's one of tests after age 35 that seem to be necessary due to Down's Syndrome and the probabilty of a leak developing, from what I found on the web, is small.
